That’s the confusing part. We see smoke where the blasts blow up. Not the hands that shot them. The only time hands are smoking (in the fictional world of db, lol) is when they tried to block an energy blast… so it’s a bit misleading.

Eloszor is - nekem nem derogal beismerni ha nem volt igazam. En is nagy szajjal mondtam jomultkoraban, hogy kar volt igy eldonteni meg leloni ki a gyoztes, stb.. Es van aki hitte, hogy meg nincs vege. Nem volt igazam, es nem lett vege. Sebaj... :)

Szoktuk szeretni Asura munkait, viszont jo rajzok ide vagy oda, azert ismerjuk el, hogy az elmult 1-2 oldal abszolute bukta. Ugyanolyan szep a rajz, viszont a kreativok egyik alaptorvenyet nem veszi szamitasba - az, hogy valami "szep" legyen, masodlagos a funkcio utan. A funkcio itt az volna, hogy az olvasok - mi - egyertelmuen lekovessuk, mi tortenik a panelekben. Ugy latom, eleg sokan vagyunk, akik nem igazan tudjak ertelmezni, mi tortenik. Szerintem ez azert lehet, mert annyira gorcsosen akartak valami kulonlegeset csinalni egy ikonikus mecssnek, ugye egy Goku vs. Vegeta eleg hangsulyos. En ugy latom, hogy ebbe bizony belebuktak. Annyira erolkodtek hogy valami extra legyen, hogy ez a manga olvashatosaganak rovasara ment ez uttal... kar.

It's not past me to acknowledge when I was wrong. I was one of those who didn't like how the "winner" was revealed a while ago, and there was a debate around it, saying it's not necessarily done yet, etc etc. I was sure it was done. I was wrong, that's ok.
I'd just say that even though the art is generally real pleasant from Asura - it still is with these last few pages as well, don't get me wrong - I think they overcomplicated this bit, A good number of people are stuggling to interpret what is going on, and no, you can't chalk it up to "well, the audience is dumb". In the creative industry form follows function - drawing something pretty is not enough, it should serve a goal, first and foremost. I think they let the pressure of an iconic matchup get to them, and so desperately wanted to create something "cool", that it sacrificed legibility and simplicity of panel flow. It's hard to follow and guess what is happening, unfortunately...

I'd take less detailed art (as in extra shadows and highlights), or even lineart that is drawn a bit more hastily - over knowing the outcome of the battle, any day of the week. Form follows function, as we say.... :)

That is actually a very good point... I probably wouldn't have nitpicked it, but as a fellow creative I found this to be an important lesson that took me a lot of years to understand the value of. I thought it could be useful. But you know what? yeah.. I agree. shouldn't have said anything.. even though it's like how I said, in retrospect, I could've just "not".
And in all honesty, I am still probably a bit b-tthurt by how the beginning (end?) of the fight went down. That's my bad. Because yes, I am one those, who think that the legit outcome of the fight was spoiled like that. Even the narration, not the characters themselves alone stated that it was the end of the fight...so I dunno, that is misleading on purpose if good old Vegeta gets up. They themselves can be as super mega hyper fast as they can boost themselves to be, but there is no reason to think a ki blast would "fly" matching their speed now. Wether the way it happened is "good" or "bad" is subjective... I personally am very disappointed having to lose that little excitement factor, not knowing which one of these guys would be victorious. I know some people are satisfied with getting "beautiful" art, and that's pleasing enough for them. For me, after waiting so many years for this, it falls super flat - you know, it's like the case of having a beautiful partner, who has absolutely nothing going for him/her in the head.
I know I said this before, but such a teeny-tiny little tweak could have solved this - Simple: Have your animated page, and your micro-second flash of a fight, exactly as you did, with people being dumbfounded, and the little gag panel of Salagir and Asura, ALL OF IT - but.... don't show who ended being on top and who landed in the dirt. Have them concealed in dust and smoke, with only the shape of their body showing, roughly. This way: My kind, who lost all level of excitement could still go on enthusiastically, as we would still have the mystery. And those of you who are fine with it - you'd literally have the same thing, with what you like being unchanged, same art, same detailed pages, yada yada... It wouldn't have been a massive change, and yet it would fix so much.
Those of you who think nobody can express a critical view because we are not the author himself, it's such flawed logic. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion.

All I am saying is, I think it's palpable how much the excitement has dropped - If I look around in my language's comment section, there's always ideas and questions flying about, with people giving their guesses, theories, expressing their amazement, etc. Last few pages - absolutely nothing. And it's Goku vs Vegeta drawn in an extra detailed manner.... coincidence? maybe. Don't think so, though.

(And for those of you who say it's not the end of the fight, with Goku being the victor, well it sure was communicated poorly so far... I am sorry, but every element - verbal and non-verbal - is giving us that message. And what if that initial gut-reaction of others/us is correct, and that's exactly how it went down? Will you change your opinion saying that it was handled poorly, or find another reason why this was "ok"?

In the creative industry, we say form follows function. You can add all the mood lighting, all the lovely effects and action shots... if you take out the anticipation of the fight's outcome, it will fall flat. Tell you what, though... I've been thinking. There would've been a way to have this split-second unique thing, and keep the rest of us happy who just wanted to follow the fight page-by-page, not knowing the outcome: Have your interactive, animated page as you did, boom, it all happens... But maybe conceal the bodies in smoke or something, not reveal which one of them won the fight. The spectators, Gohan, Vargas, everyone could still comment the way they did, but at least we wouldn't know who came out as the victor. Simple fix. I dunno... I applaud the novelty factor and the decision to go unconventional.
However, I'd rather have the excitement of going through the fight page by page. I have been waiting for this fight for way more than 10 years.. This one the one I really wanted to see. We now now that Goku won. No matter how many pages or how many panels we get of the fight, from start to finish, we will know that Goku won already. In my trade (creative industry), it's awesome when someone can do something new...but form should always follow function. While i still despise how we are portraying Bra with the most innocent, brightest of puppy dog eyes ever, I find it a very cheap visual tool..I have to admit, Bra quitting is the closest we get to tangible character development in her case. So if anything, it's a positive thing in my book.
Not against this in the slightest - sudden forfeits in tournaments are very dragon ball, that is fine by itself. Devil's advocate: However, one could argue that the whole point of multiverse is built around the concept of seeing fights that otherwise wouldn't happen. The devil's advocate of the devil's advocate (lol) - HOWEVER, both Bra and Ghast are dbm exclusive characters, so it's not like any one of us started reading this whole thing with them in mind. It might be just me, but I really don't care much for dbm-exclusive characters, if that makes any sense. If it was only them without anyone of the canon characters present, we wouldn't be here...ok, let's not generalise. Most of us, at least.

Yes, if we are painting with broad strokes. But Vegetto didn't sadistically massacre Bra's parent with a sadistic smile on his face while doing it (with him being one parent, it leaves Bulma as the one being slaughtered in this scenario). This borders the unforgivable level, even in dbz terms.

If we're being realistic...When we say "beginning" that does not mean long-long years like what it means for us reading it. The whole tournament is a super-duper short amount of time, and don't know about you, if I leave to get groceries, I don't return as a completely reformed, changed man. My problem that it is just super convenient and is like a parody of actual character development - like what Piccolo or Vegeta had. A tournament story is not the best base for character development things... Fundamental changes in your personality, your attitude..I dunno. it irks me as a character, like her newly-discovered oh-too-shy look on her face was meant to solve things. I can't remember the last time I said something very positive about how things are on DBM, but this made me glad. I absolutely despise how DBS changed the entire Bardock thing, turning him into a one-of-a-kind good guy, and "aaw" father who just wanted what's best for his children. What made Bardock special to me in the past is that he was not special among saiyans - he was just one of the crude and barbaric space monkeys, no pure heart, no Jor-El tendencies, or a steady partner/love/wife.
And this brings me back to that Bardock. Just a nasty barbarian who got a random gift from life.

Asura does a great job, as usual, but I think it wouldn't hurt to take a second look at the legs sometimes. Look at Bardock standing there - where his knees are and what proportions that gives to the entire leg, especially the thighs. Not a massive deal, but I'd work on it. :)

Hats off to anyone who draws specials, after all, it is made purely for passion, and love for DB. Even though it is super obvious when a head, body posture, etc has been copied from an official source, I think the stark difference between the copied and non-copied material is more distracting than the fact of copying itself. It just makes it very disjointed, I am afraid.

I dunno. I can maybe get behind the whole Kami asked for "capabilities of yonder" phrasing. That it supposed to give this shaky explanation to why Daimaio is here. But just like how it was pointed out before, in classic DB Daimaio's wish didn't turn Kami young, either... it bugged me a bit, but FINE, I'll let that go..phrasing, I guess.

But Shenron peacing out saying "yeah, have fun doing that, sucker" - is definitely far from what I have known it to be. It always just did what it was asked to do, it never left things open for the person who made the wish or pulled a funny and fulfilled a wish with a caveat. This is super out of place for me. YOu could argue it is not within its power, ok, but then it shouldn't have summoned Daimao to begin with. It's like, "well, I tried something, but ended up not being able to see it through, so, uh, you're up, fool". The whole thing is a bit of stretch, is all I'm saying. Kami could've had more agency in this - like consciously getting Daimao, realising that's the only way to win, or something. You know, big sacrifice and all.

I was not exactly referring to the process of introducing new characters to a story, in general. But let me rephrase that - I was referring to DB, DBZ anime and manga. For example: I like seeing Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Freeza, Cell, etc... We got to know them, followed their journey for so long. I have formed an attachment to those characters. Ghast, Mar- I mean Son Bra, XXII, I couldn't care less about them, even if I tried, I think. Simple as that. Also - I have no idea where you get the idea from that XXII was spoken about by the Old Kai. Lol, when/where exactly?
