Meh, figures they'd go the expected route

Re-reading this fight the choreography was so strange to me throughout sections of the fight. They were constantly in a different position than momentum and the hits should have carried them. Was a hell of a fight though, and certainly better than the other DBM fights of the past few years. Too bad the first half of the fight was soured by the fake out though, which was ultimately pointless since Goku is winning anyway

omai was saying: everybody talking bad cant come close to making a battle this entertaining. Dbm> everything but z ???

Maybe not artistically but I'm sure there's a decent amount of people on here who could think of much better choreography and a more satisfying ending

"Expected route" I really encourage you to rewatch/reread DBZ and keep track at how many times they fought and Goku came out the winner. Go ahead. I'll wait. Even in canon Vegeta beats him in training In the recent movie. If anything this is the most unexpected ending because of the misconception that's plagued the fandom and still does so. And Vegeta once again, ain't the MC. Goku finally beat him here In a fanfic at best right now. 2 Replie(s)

COsim was saying:
Here is my take on it.

If reading the whole fight as a whole, and not a single page per few days - the fight is amazing. Sure it's a long one, but one long awaited one.

Another thing that I noticed - the sheer determination of Vegeta, the guy just won't give up.

Goku will be Goku'ing, sure, but how many times in this fight was Vegeta down/beat to the ground and broken/surprised by new attacks of Goku, but he will still get up and keep going... From the art of the fight, for me at least, it seems that while Goku is giving his 100 percent, Vegeta is giving 110 percent or more, giving way more and beyond.

Vegeta wont even close his eyes having is fist broken, while Goku did. All of this gives me the impression that the "emotion" behind the fight is Vegeta's struggle to finally reach his goal and to win against Goku in an all out battle.

Thus I'm betting Vegeta will take the win. He deserves it.

EDIT: also, I understand the strange dynamic if Goku loses for the final, he is the main character afterall. But what this tournament has in common with original DB manga material, is that each fight (especially nearing the end) are more than just brawl's, they represent something deeper for the characters, making them evolve and grow.

In that sense, if Vegeta wins and finally reaches his goal, I'm not counting out that it will conclude in some sort of growth for him, maybe some realization and/or something else, thus making the final fight of the tournament less predictable and more interesting, if thinking about it if Goku wins.

Settling this issue with Goku will issue a new chapter for him.

If he loses, nothing is settled, nothing has changed, Goku goes to the final and Goku the fight somehow, as he always does. There will be some new technique I'm sure, but we can all see the outcome in this.

This solidifies my opinion, that Vegeta will win.

EDIT2: if I can sum this all up in one sentence, it would be: "GOKU: I want to win; Vegeta: I NEED to win".

Vegeta was only spared on Gokus word BECAUSE Goku wanted the chance to fight and defeat him in rematch. Goku has never done so to this day. Vegeta already had his clarity at the Buu saga and his rivalry isn't something that harps on his mind to the point it makes his life miserable. No longer a fight over the earth or a one sided inferiority complex (that doesn't even make sense to begin with when again, you think about how their first battle went).

And it would be cliche as hell if the main character didn't win against his rival in a non life of death event in a tournament. AND in that bad written super movie, Vegeta beats Goku in a sparring session saying "finally". So please tell me how Vegeta deserves this ?

And Vegeta looks like he won't give up? Hello? What about Goku, the guy we been following as a kid, you know how hard he trains and fights right? Everyone always assumes it's Vegeta working his tail off but Goku has literally put his body on the line even when it's completely broken 1 Replie(s)

Love the 2nd panel, it shows that both are equal. That alone is a win for Vegeta because he lost every time in DBZ against Goku

It's comments like this where I'm unsure if people really watched DBZ and only watched the abridged series. You act like Goku pummeled Vegeta every time after the Saiyan Saga. The last fight they had was interrupted/draw to handle Buu....before that Goku literally ASKS HIS FRIEND to spare him so he can have a rematch and beat him 1 on 1.

They are either going to do right by Goku,or do him completely wrong and not give him his win that he is long overdued since that was the whole damn reason he spared him in the first place. Goku didn't get his first tournament win until the END of Dragonball. This is one of those times where Goku rightfully so, as the main character that started it all in Dragonball should win. There's no bad guy excuse, no moral dilemma, just the fight in a tournament.

All you Vegeta fanboys going on and on about "finally Goku loses" don't know a thing about Dragonball and sound so entitled like the prince of no one over here. Hell, even in canon recently with that weak movie in a training session Vegeta "beats" Goku. So far, they have done Gokus character really well (minus the special) and he's been a competent fighter who isnt all "ATATATATATATA" but still getting hit constantly. But we will see how this ends. 1 Replie(s)

UnifiedEntity was saying: People saying "ass pull" incoming because th e prince of no one/entitled Saiyans won't possibly win despite not being a character in Dragonball till Much much later while characters like Piccolo fell to the way side. HES NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER. Goku still to this day hasn't made out on his promise to Krillin to beat widows peak ass since the Saiyan Saga. Lest y'all forgot, and it still annoys me, Goku didn't beat Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga and their Buu Saga fight was interrupted. Head to head wise, Goku hasn't one. But a fan fiction even.....is where y'all say, "Oh Goku will win again like always".....actually go back and read/watch Dragonball instead of crying about misconceptions myths of Dragonball.

Even in Super Goku gets thrashed in 90% of his fights. He's not even impressive anymore there when he and Vegeta arrives. It's just a matter of how fast will they lose.

To help your point; Beerus beat him. Toppo beat him. Golden Frieza beat him, Jiren beat him the first time, Kefla almost beat him. Goku isn't infallible, and at the end of Super Hero Vegeta actually wins.

Thank you for proving my point. Even in that crap, the writers made Vegeta win and had him say "finally" as if they fought before. Twas a mere training session and not a tournament but still. 1 Replie(s)
